Default "New" 1993 D21 owner

Well I just bought a 1993 D21 2 wheel drive 5spd. The interior and most of the exterior is pretty much roached. I've gutted most of the interior, in hopes of painting it then putting down new carpet, headliner, door panels, radio, dash cover, and seats. The outside has been painted with a freaking roller/brush from the previous owner. I have not had much luck finding parts for D21's, I'm looking for the seal/trim piece on the exterior of the doors that seals in the lower part of the window. Maybe p/n80821 and 80820. There likely wont be much left at a junk yard from that long ago as I live in the rust belt. Also I want a comfy seat, mine came with a very worn out bench seat, and by worn I mean even the springs are shot, just adding a seat cover won't work for me.
Thanks in advance

Fantastic! That's exactly what I was looking for. I was searching for Nissan, it never occurred to me that they were still Datsun somewhere. Is there a thread for rebuilding a bench seat, or a common replacement? I don't have a welder or torch type of kit so creating a frame and that kind of stuff is out. Also I'm a big dude so the seat won't have to move, just bolt it in as far back as possible.

That's the plan, However I've never swapped seats before. My dumb ass thought that I was going to go to a junkyard and find some in a pathfinder and be on my way. I'll have to do some more digging for replacement bucket seats. If you have some ideas lay'em on me.
Thanks

the pathy seats will bolt right in your cab. i know the 87 to 95 will fit, but im not sure if the seat design changed when nissan redid the pathfinder in 96. the buckets have 4 bolts each, and the good news is the floors in the trucks are already set up for the additional bolts. just gotta cut the carpet a little to get them in there.

I think most D21's are drilled for both bench and buckets. The bench is what you sit on until you can get buckets.

If you get your buckets, and do the replacement, find some carpet and replace it as long as you're in there. Be ready to punch nice holes into the carpet and mark them somehow to match the bolt holes.

If you get these new buckets out of an existing truck, take the seat belt assemblies too.

Using big washers and NEW bolts when installing the seats won't hurt. Might keep you from getting tossed out the windshield in a crash.

There are some very smart Nissan folk on this forum. I am only average.

Thanks for the tip about the washers on the seatbelts, mine are all frayed and falling apart, I've already removed them, the seat, and carpet. Next to go this weekend is the headliner, shifter boot, and door panels. Then I'm repainting the cab white and trying to put it back together using the cheapest/coolest stuff I can find. Seats are my real road block, i haven't found any locally yet.

Your best bet on buckets isn't the wrecking yard. 99% of the time they are gone, no good, wet, bent up from a crash, or cost too much. Better to keep hitting Craigslist for someone parting out their truck. I got mine because the owner tried to kill herself by ramming her D21 into a pole. Her father said she 'had issues'. He owned the repair shop where I got the seats. She lived because she forgot to take OFF her seat belt. Oh, brother. What a waste of a life. I mean the poor Nissan's life. It was one hell of a nice 88 before she rammed it dead-center into that telephone pole. They sent her off for an 'evaluation'. Unfortunately, the truck did NOT survive. And that was the real tragedy.

If you DO go to the wrecking yard, pull off an instrument panel (not hard on D21's) and pull out every bulb you can find and stick them in your pocket. Same thing with those blue and green relays in the box near the battery. You wouldn't believe what those cost retail. It's crazy. And pick up an extra bottle jack. If you really get stuck somewhere, two jacks work WAY better to get you out.
