Assembled usual tools and emergency parts in a special box behind the drivers seat for the upcoming trip to the Olympics. I'm still kicking around the idea of going all the way up to Trap Pass to do the DB Cooper videos, although I will probably stick to the Skokomish River area as planned. I leave on Thursday morning early.

Consult refers to the proprietary OBD connector that lives under the dash. It's sort of under the fusebox and kind of by the hood release. IIRC the actual scan tool for it has long since faded into obscurity but you can still use the consult port to get codes from the ECU without having to dick around under the seat. A while back I used this writeup and made a black box with a button switch and 2 LEDs to imitate the ones on the side of the ECU. It's a long thread but worth reading through. I need to get mine working again. On a side note, RIP radioshack.

If you have a "newer" truck just stick to ODB. Pretty sure OBD1 was used by nissan since 92ish.

I've noticed there are a few OBD1-compatible scan tools out there that have the adapter for nissan consult ports. I've thought about buying one but I don't think I would use it enough to justify the expense. Maybe someday. I will say that I pulled the codes on a '95 D21 recently and it had the same connector and ECU blinky lights as my '90. I think they used it all the way up until OBD2 became mandatory but I'm not sure on that.
