Coil wires, plug wires, and your dizzy are common Zap Points. But that's when the engine is running. I've never been zapped on an alternator because they put out serious amps and I know better than to mess with them when engine is running.

With my alternator the motor wasn't running but I did become the ground. I had to pull it out to get my oil pan off and forgot to unplug the battery. Boy did I throw that wrench!

I once dropped a wrench in exactly the right spot when I was working on my old accord. One end hit the stud on the alternator and the other hit the exhaust heat shield. It arced pretty good then the whole car went dead...no dash lights or anything. The main fuse did its job that day.

only been working on 12 and 24 volt systems for 40+ years.....never got "zapped" by anything but ignition.....how the heck you do that?
89 regular cab, plain as it gets with a z-24 and posi's
