Default Annoying sound -HELP-

Alright guys I need some help. My 93 is making a weird chirp sound when it idles and can’t figure out what it is. It goes away when I start driving. If the engine is cold it won’t do it, but starts up when the truck warms up. It sounded just like a bad belt so I changed them (except timing belt) and its still there. The sound is also heard at the end of the tail pipe. Manifold maybe??

take a long screwdriver and use it like a stethoscope, be careful of rotating parts. or you could pull one belt off at a time to help eliminate the culprit.

it could be a bad tensioner pulley/bearing. recheck your belts for proper tension.

check your water pump pulley and weep hole as well.

is this a v6 or 4 cyl?

Alright I’ll check that. It’s a V6, what’s got me confused is if you get down little next to the tail pipe you can hear it in the exhaust too. So it’s in the engine bay and at the end of the truck which is weird to me. Also what the hell is a weep hole?? Lol

This the the weep hole on a 2wd water pump. It’s there so you can tell if the seals are leaking on your water pump. When they start to leak it will start to weep out of the “weep hole”

See if you can replicate the sound with the belts removed. That will eliminate a dozen possible causes at once. Obviously you don’t want to run it too long without the waterpump running.

It’s a 4x4. Alright So if the weep hole is leaking coolant it’s an indicator the water pump is going out?? I’ll take a look at it

Let us know what issue you had, mine is making a similar noise at times i suspect it's the belts or tensioner but could be everything else as everyone said. Having a starting point will help without tearing the whole thing apart.

many use the words for either one since many 4 cylinders had belts. I know the KA didn't have a belt I was just making sure. so don't assume.

Ya for sure when ever I get in there (have no idea when) and find it I’ll post right here what it was.
