Default Vin identification locations on a hard body

Asking for a friend. He's ran into a title issue and swappin parts seems to be an easier option.

per the factory service manual, should be a tag under the hood on the pass. inner fender, the frame should have the Vin # on the pass. side front top of the frame, of course on the dash should be a Vin tag. Should also be a sticker on the drivers door jamb if it hasn't been removed

So he has a truck that can’t get titled and he wants to swap the visible number?

There goes the registry, not to mention I think we have laws against cloning.

There are legal ways to do it, but it's not as easy as parts swaps. There's a lot of red tape processes you have to deal with in most areas. So unless you're in the middle of south America, you need to tell him to look into what your areas laws are for combining vehicles is, since that's the legal method. This does 'scrap' one of them though, and the local DMV or equiv has to inspect it, and sometimes even on a state level you have to get a new vin issued that _they_ will stamp on everything and install in the dash.

This process can take months. And isn't cheap.
