Thanks for the info. I’ve been wondering about the photo issue. I knew the oil pain would have to be addressed. I have a fuel cell I’ll be adding to the rear of the frame. I will be redoing all brake line and fuel lines. I have been asked about the bags. I don’t think I’ll be running the track and if I would be at the track I’d want to add a rollcage etc. So i sorta wanna tune it to drive around town so I’d like to be able to clear speed bumps. The control as for ride height is a huge bonus.

You’re 100% right getting it in and the firewall and trans tunnel worked out is #1. Oh yeah and making sure you get the mounts welded in correctly so the motor sits right. So I can get the drive line correct. Then I can do the 4 link and bags.... I am still working on the body. I have the interior redone but with the ac out i have to clean up blanks in the dash. I need about 3 more people to get things done as fast as i want to but a few hours a night is working for now.

I barely BFH'ed my firewall to fit a vortec 350 with the long water pump, serpentine accessories and a 700r4 in mine. The LS is slightly shorter overall than the normal sbc, and no distributor to deal with, and the 4L60 is the pretty much the same dimensionally as a 700R4, so the LS should swap pretty easily in a 4 x 2...

That’s good to hear. Sometimes I feel like I’m 90 days from turning a key and others I feel like it will be 2 years. All the help is greatly appreciated. Send me everything. I’m sure I’ll need it.

Any specific reason for the LS over a carb'd SBC swap? If your just looking for an around town cruiser a carb'd SBC 350 backed up with a th350 trans is absolutely the most straight forward swap. Weld 2 mounts, fit a cooling system and exhaust, minor wiring (like really minor) and a driveshaft (can be made easily from the existing shaft yourself)...

My build (fast forwarded to the v8 stuff, missing some pics will fix those...) - http://infamousnissan.com/forum/show...=15898&page=12

Your going to want to bag the front end first, getting those torsion bars out of the way will do wonders for fitting everything

I’ll look into that. I’d really like to stick with the 5.3. I was curious about the bars. I was going to put the motor in and worry about bagging the front later but initially I was going to go from the ground up. I have to get a qualified welder to help on some things or borrow a buddies for sure for this project. My brother is an expert mechanic so I’ll be fine there.

I just remembered something that I discovered during my engine placement mock-up. the Nissan driveline is offset to the right about an inch and a half from centerline. I shifted mine that way to keep the driveshaft centered with my axle pinion.

THings are moving slow. I felt like I was getting ahead of myself so I started sanding again. Got the doors cleaned. Glass swapped to the new doors. All the old seals are better than the new door. Got new hardwood panels cut today. Still cleaning.
