Default Xterra Reports - Problems - 1st Gen, 2nd Gen

I'm concidering purchasing an Xterra. The Xterra I would purchase would be 4wd 5 speed so, only reports on such vehicles please. I'm curious what kind of problems have been incountered with owners of the two Gen's. I prefer the more rounded looks of the body lines on the 1st Gen, but the 2nd Gen is ok too. Also, only relavent, STOCK, problems. No modifications.

Upon research, I found that manual locking hubs can be fitted to the 1st Gen Xterra. Can the same manual hubs be fitted to the 2nd Gen? ~ Reports of problem body rust areas on either Gen???

I'm not on-line very much this time of year. So, please understand a slow responce (or thanks).

Thanks for that info Granitex. That helps tremendously with my choice. Now, if only I can find a 5sp 1st Gen Xterra with less than 80k miles at a decent price!

I would still like to know of any problems owners of the 1st gen's have had (mechanical, electrical, rust areas to be aware of). Of course, I should be able to tell if a vehicle was a northern one by getting under it. Granted, they use quite a bit of salt here in TN.
