Based off of this thread think I can swap my gauge clusters with no problems, except maybe the oil pressure gauge won't work correctly (usually they have a different sensor on the block but don't know yet):

http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/...d.php?p=362938

I hope the plugs for the 87 V6 model are the same for my 90 4 cyl. This cluster actually has everything but its orange. Speedo, tach, oil pressure gauge, voltage gauge, fuel gauge (two gauges, one only reads the last 1/4 of the tank I believe), clock, and a few dummy lights for the rest. My 91 with the V6 didn't have the oil pressure gauge, just a dummy light. Both of the V6 clusters have dual trip meters. My 90 didn't even have a clock.

Based on my experiments the plugs on the SE clusters are not the same. I have a V6 cluster that did plug in but the tach never worked. I lucked out and found 1991 2wd 4cyl cluster with a tach that plugged right in and worked! Check my transmission swap build thread for more info on that since we have similar trucks.

Well since I have it out and others have more experince with the tach swap I will post some pics

My 91 SE-V6 King Cab cluster:

My 87 SE-V6 Pathfinder cluster I would like to install in my 90 KA24 base model:

The back of the 87 cluster:

I have not found a picture of the back of a 90 KA24 base model cluster like mine picture below to compare yet:

I don't see me actually pulling the dash apart until mid March, hopefully by then I will have the tilt steering, power doors (door swap for power everything), a tach cluster, and fix some of the wiring from a PO who doesn't know how to wire a radio. At the same time fix the A/C. It will just be easier to access everything at once and make a clean install. I probably will order some LEDs for the dash while I am in there, my 87 cluster is missing a bulb anyway.

You might need the gauge cluster wiring harness to be able to mod the existing harness. I just happen to have the one I got from you. LMK, ill pull it off ebay.

Yeah, I will take it. Since I did not remove it, do you happen to know what I need to do and modify my wiring harness with or is it obvious. Something tells me I will be knee deep in some electrical diagrams, I would love to have cruise control, did you get that harness as well or not sure how this will work. I know there is a vacuum model near the intake I need and some computer mounted usually behind the driver in a king cab. Not sure if anyone has put cruise control on a base model truck.

At this rate I need labels for everything so I know what it goes to, lol.

MAtching wire to wire is what I know. I tried to put a 91 SE cluster in my 89. It looked very similar to the 93 truck gauges.
I had most of the gauges working but think I had a couple not hooked up right or enough stuff hooked up correctly. I gave up when I decided to sell my pathfinder. Which left my possession 2 weeks ago.

Went to the dealership today and asked about the recall for the seat belts, it took about 30 minutes of the service manager talking to the parts manager, then the district manager got involved to make sure it was a legitimate claim (needless to say most everyone was shocked to see a recall on a 25 year old truck, only like 2 or 3 service guys had even done the recall and they laughed and said yep its a legit recall). They are ordering the parts and should be here sometime next week, no cost to me.

Just trying to help since I have been down this road before and own almost a dozen of these square clusters in various states.

All these pics are from my own collection.

1991 Base model truck- no tach.

91 base on left, 87 SE in middle and 91 SE on right.

Not trying to be annoying, just trying to help. The 87 SE needs to be rewired to work and with all the senders not everything is going to work. The 91 SE plugs in but also needs wiring.

This one...

...is the only one that was plug and play and worked in my 91 base.

Hope that helps a little bit. Sorry to jack your thread.

No worries, the more info and pics I have the better I am "armed" to do what I need to for it to work. I probably will take the harness I get from David and make a "connector" so I don't fubar the factory stuff.
