Default Think I had a wee oil leak on my 190D

It's hard to tell for sure, but it looks to me like a previous owner may have ignored a slight oil leak. This is behind the harmonic balancer of my 87 Mercedes 190D.

Was the front crank seal leaking or was it dripping down from somewhere else?

The crank seal is definitely leaking. Not sure if it's leaking from anywhere else or not. I've got a new crank seal that I'm going to install when I'm done cleaning it all up. If it's still leaking after doing that, I'll crack back into it and see if I can figure out where the rest is coming from. I'd like to ideally get it to where it doesn't leak any oil.

Since I have a 91 300e, I learned that these cars are like Harleys. They love leaking oil.

Found the source of the problem a few days ago. The hub that the harmonic balancer rides on has a groove in the shaft. Have a speedi sleeve on order that should fix it up. Gonna press the new crank seal in tonight hopefully.

I believe the front cover is the source of my oil leak.
