Default Splash Guards In Fender Well

I replaced a starter in my 97 pickup and those thin splash guards in the front fender wells, held in with plastic clips.

Mine feel apart when removing them. Anybody sell those?

I can only guess the ones at the junk yard are in the same shape as mine. 20+ years old and coming apart.

Default update

Im talking about the black non plastic material piece that goes between the frame and fender well. Not the big plasitc inner fender liner.

My former 87 Hardbody I made them out of semi mud flaps. I used 1/4 -20 bolts and nuts to hold them in. I installed the bolts with the bolt head on the inside of the inner fender, with the threaded part facing out, installed a nut to hold the bolt in place, than the rubber liner, and a washer and another nut.

You could drill the bolts and use a clip instead of the second nut if you wanted it to be easier to remover the liners.

Worked good on my 87 (4x4 with 3" body lift), and was still easy to get to the oil filter.

Ya JP, those are fender liners, and yeah, I ordered those and replaced them awhile back after a paint job.. The splash guards are more inboard, between the engine compartment and the upper control arm. I liked ahardbody's idea of easier removal. I was thinking of installing some kind of snaps., at least to access starter or oil filter.

I bought my replacements, along with the variety of clips, as dealer parts. Not cheap, and IDK if they are still available.

If not, the rubber seemed to be inner-tube like material so could be made. Maybe cut some out from black EPDM roll-roofing material?
