So i order the rear trailing arm bushing kit. That bastard wasn’t cheap. Two days later the fuel injection goes haywire. The coil died and it threw a tps, maf code and an injector code. Got the tps and maf codes fixed, but its still stuck in partial limp mode. Injectors tested within spec per the FSM. The only remaining code is no ignition reference signal.....but the damn thing runs......off what feels like one injector.
It was simply cold today and snowing. It was suggested to reset the ecm. Maybe i will swap the distributor and see if the reference code goes away. It is real close to a carb conversion now. I have been down this road before. 34 year old injection systems are far too expensive to repair. She is gonna shit when i dunk a grand on the carb kit and DUI distributor. |

Weber kit ordered this morning. The distributor build time from Davis Industries is 6 weeks. Ouch.

Man, you gotta start having that stuff shipped to your work or a friend's house. Or create a separate undercover bank account and slowly siphon off what you need over time.
Don't actually take my advice though. I am curious to see it in action, since in time more and more of these systems will reach the point where it's easier to just carb it than it will be to fix everything. |

Yes it will....the carb kit was over 550 with tax. The distributor is 499 and the fiberglass mat wound and sealed 8mm plug wires are another 100. Ordering that next week. I got the cash now, but i have learned from experience to not splurge simply because you can. I did order an all aluminum radiator for 140 bucks.
Oddly enough she didnt care about the carb kit. I hesitated to push it after she said well if you need it, then spend the money. I thought it was some sort of trap haha |

Yep. I went down that road with my truck. I corrected the codes it (wd21) was showing. Still running bad. I won’t be completely satisfied until the HEI distributor is in the truck. That will forever eliminate the ecm from the equation.
