Look on the bright side.....by keeping them off the road during those harsh winters, those trucks will live forever.

Foul Mouth - Tell me someone will start your trucks up every week or so during this storage time? I hope...

What I did today: Finished the body work, mostly touch ups on scratches and new clear coat all over. Even clear coated the canopy. Painted the sunguard to match the truck, four coats, and...(oh, brother) the battery hold down clamp and the lettering on the valve cover. Will do pictures Sunday night. Still have to buff out some of the clear coat and then do the Maguire's thing on the body. Why I did all that extra crap is because they sold me matching paint in the half pint can...and it goes a lot further than I thought. So I kept going, looking for other cute spots to paint. Also did the (dont know the name) body panel at the very bottom of the truck, below the front bumper. No chips now, looks way better.

I would put some stabil in the fuel and get a couple of the moisture traps for the interior. Dollar tree sells them and they work great for storing anything that is moisture sensitive.

No. Let Old School Guy say why this is a bad idea. Battery will go dead, certain gaskets could go brittle from non-heat and non-use. You'll get a year's worth of wear on the engine in seconds the next time you start it up. Mice could move in. If you have AC, it should be run occasionally to keep the oil flowing to certain items, otherwise you could get leaks next summer.

I could go on. Have someone start the rig at least twice a month and let it run for at least three minutes. Have them run the AC as well. Bonus is that when this is done, you KNOW it will start first time when you go to retrieve it.

Put LEDs in tail, side marker, reverse, and lic plate lights. May eventually do turn signals, but my goal was mainly to lessen current draw. Doesn't bother me that they pull a little more when they're on. The instant on is a neat touch, so maybe I'll get some soon, we'll see. Also wanted brighter reverse lights outta this. These are only a little brighter than the incandescent bulbs. Would like them to be brighter, issue is that most the really bright ones are "cool white" and I don't like that bluish bullshit. Tail lights are really nice and flat and deep red now.

Agreed.

Unless you plan to crank the engine long enough for all of the internal fluids to reach operating temperatures, you are not really doing anything good for the engine.

It will be fine. Not like i didnt prep it before hand but i am not starting it once a week, battery is disconnected. 10 years and i havent had issues with how i store it. It's only 6 months, not eternity.

I replaced my center carrier bearing today, got it from Amazon. The last one from Rock Auto lasted about 15.000 miles. The bearing is fine, it's the rubber membrane that tears and that membrane is pretty thin.

I remember when I replaced it the last time I was thinking, I'll never have to replace this part ever again. LOL Good to go now. No more vibration in first and second gear, just nice smooth acceleration. If this bearing wears out as fast as the last one, I'm ditching the two-piece driveshaft for a one-piece. I'll get one out of a Frontier or will have one made.
