Default New to hardbodies (and Nissans)

Hello everyone. Just bought a 91 D21 SE V6 4WD that I thought was all stock but I'm learning that may not be the case. I'm new to hardbodies, Nissans and trucks for that matter. My other cars are a 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid, 1959 VW double door panel and a 67 VW camper.

This truck was purchased as a spare vehicle so my wife could have the Ford full time. I'm hoping to learn all I can about this truck so I can get many years out of it. I look forward to your advice and help.

Nice find.

See, I've got nothing against the LEGO wheels. They look Right on that truck, perhaps because of the Silver graphics package that goes with it.

The wheels and logos certainly have a "classic" look that is nostalgic. I dig it! Need to find some 4X4 mud flaps to complete the look.

welcome to IN.

these V6 trucks usually run well past 300k miles before having any major problems. the most critical thing about the V6 is the timing belt. if the belt breaks, the engine is done due to the pistons smashing the valves. the service interval is usually 60,000 miles.

nissan redesigned the cam and crank gears to ease belt wear, but i do not remember what year that was implemented. i believe the redesign also changed the belt interval to 100k miles.

just be sure the belt has been changed. if it hasnt, or you are unsure, there are several threads here that document the process as well as the suggested parts you should change while replacing the belt.

I had a 95 V6 ext cab 4wd with about 6" of lift on mud tires. It was an automatic. That thing would go through some mud. I do miss it. Traded it in on a 09 Titan crew cab 4wd in 2010. But it don't see mud. Maybe icy roads once a year. Good looking truck you got. Take care of it. Welcome to Infamous.
