personally i never cared for the frontier model. the change was way too drastic from the square nosed hardbody. 97 to 98 was a visual shock. i mean when ford started redesigning the front ends of the F series for 97 and beyond, they were gradual. even the first change from the square F series to the smooth F series of the late 90s wasnt too shocking. just my thoughts.

nice truck tony.

I never have, and still don’t, like the front end on the 98-00 frontier. I love the 01-04. Different strokes for different folks.

Pics of my stereo system, Yesterday I made a speaker grille using window screen frame and painted it black, today I attached the black speaker cloth to it, I used snaps to attach the grille to the front of the sub/amp rack. Need to get one more snap.

Pioneer DVD headunit with DVD bypass installed ( can play while truck is moving although I do not do that), Used my Morel components from the Hardbody, tweeters mounted on top of the stock dash tweeter grilles, my 2 Precision Power amps, 2200 for the subs, two 12" Kicker Comps in single sealed boxes, and a A600 for the front Morel components.

Very proud of myself, I only made 6 holes in the truck, 2 in each tweeter grille and 2 in the under hood relay box to mount the fuse from the battery, all can be put back to stock with new parts.

It sounds very good to me, still have to carpet the top and sides of the box, I wanted to be able to use the top in case I needed to throw something up there, since the whole king cab area is now taken up.

Pics.

Headunit:

Dr. side tweeter on dash:

Pass. side tweeter:

Front amp - A600 and ground distribution block:

Dr. side view, both amps and sub boxes, top and top supports not installed yet:

amp/sub rack with top now on and sides covered, I made it so the middle section is removable to access the jack and jack tools which are mounted behind the hump on the back wall, grille I made attached to the front, top and sides will be covered with carpet in the future:

view looking between the seats:

with dr. side seat in my driving position (fully back), plenty of room between seat and the grille:

Box painted black:

Did some mock up today for mounting my air horns, this was just a rough mock up, for location and clearance purposes. I wanted to pull the grille to see how much room there was. Took a few pics, the grille clears both horns fine.

If I do mount the horns in this location, I will spray them flat black so they blend in, also have to remove/modify the plastic "skid plate" as the long horn sticks out the bottom slightly. The position of the horns also leaves plenty of room for the hose fittings.

Truck is running great still, MPG is down slightly but could be from my new short drive to work and winter fuel, I have a new job and it is only 5.5 miles from my house. One stop sign no traffic lights !

Truck just went over 58K miles.

Nothing new, polished the end of the tailpipe, looks good. Going to change the exhaust soon to the MBRP system.

couple of pics below since the old photo hosting site is no more:

airhorns installed:

button for airhorns:

air gauge installed where 4x4 switch would have been:

Painted the horns flat black to minimize seeing them through the grille:

air horns installed, had to cut the lower valance as the large airhorn sticks out the bottom slightly, not very noticeable unless you look for it:

tool box I had from way back that was in my 87 Hardbody, little narrow for the Frontier but it works, had to leave the tonneau cover off as it did not clear the box, I made brackets that bold to the stock bed tie downs so no holes made to mount the box, easily removable by taking out 4 bolts, I put rivnuts (nut serts) in the other day to eliminate the separate nuts on the bolts:

air tank and compressor, still have to wire the compressor, for now I use my plug in jumper cables (tow truck style) to power the compressor when I need to fill the tank:

solenoid, upgraded all air fittings to push to connect, so much nicer than the compression type and tubing is removable:

Push to connect "Y" fitting, one tube goes to each horn:

Your old pics are gone, T. Just FYI.

That was a lot of work to install the air horns. You must have really wanted those.
