It sounds like you're taking the lower rad hose off where it meets the tstat housing? Setting the probes in the tstat housing neck, and then putting the rad hose back on, with the probe wire sitting between the metal neck and the rad hose?

That's close to correct, except that the probes go in the radiator inlet where the hose from the t-stat housing connects to the radiator.

The kit comes with instructions with diagrams.

As for controls, I used a pair of these to run the fans separately using common 40amp relays, one per fan.

OldGreyBeast bought the whole shebang from me after I did my V8 swap. Wirenuts and all. LOL.
