i get this for a SECOND on startup after the truck has been sitting for a while. i think its more that the battery is SLIGHTLY lower than the truck's dummy sensor and the alternator just isnt spinning fast enough to charge quickly. I wouldnt replace anything.

Are you saying it stays on? Or just comes on for a second or two on start

Stays on. I came home after driving a different truck since I don't want to get stranded. The light stays on. It's dim-ish. I checked my OBD2 reader and it says I'm putting out 14.2 Volts.

Dim light is not the same as bright warning light. 14.2 volts at the battery is good.
Do NOT disconnect a battery cable while the engine is running - then you'll need a new alternator for sure !!!!
