Default Drive shaft grinding

So I recently did a transmission swap on my 94 4x4 but Iíve been so busy so I just took out my truck and I noticed a grind noise like metal on metal so I lifted the rear up and spun the driveshaft and discovered itís coming from the dust collar on the tail of the transfer case. Itís like a metal tube or collar the sticks out and you insert the drive shaft. Anyway itís grind on there and maybe itís Bc I lifted the rear with shackles but do I need this dust cover? I mean I could just run the truck and let it clear itself out because itís grinding it down but itís very loud and I rather not. So I was wondering can I just remove this? Is it needed? Or anyway to fix it and keep the drive shaft from rubbing on it?

We had to remove that on my nephews truck because it was badly bent. You would always grease it to quiet it down lol

I don’t believe anything bad happened as a result of removing it.

its just a dust shield. its job is to tr and prevent road grime from getting into the U-joints. id just snip off what i dont need and try and leave some of it on there.
