Got a call from the machine shop, heads are done, I'll pick them up tomorrow. Claimed there were two bent valves, interested in seeing how bad they are. Just ordered some vacuum tubing/fuel-line and got an email my coolant hoses from Nissan finally shipped.

I've got everything cleaned except the block, I still need to get the old head gasket off. Then I'm ready to reassemble!

Now if we can have a little cooler weather this weekend I might get everything put back together by Monday. Good thing football hasn't started, LOL

Today I limped LBR to the shop. Tons of loud banging noice coming from the front driver wheel. Everything was fun until I got alignment and now all hell is breaking loose.

The leads on mine popped off the sensor when I removed the airbox, so I just crimped a resistor onto the plug to prevent the CEL. I've read that it doesn't affect fuel trims or anything, just used for diagnostic purposes.

The air temp sensor does function. It regulates/tells the ecm how much or how little fuel to send to the injectors depending on the ambient air temperature going through the air cleaner. When the wires are broken or sensor goes bad, it runs rich automatically.

You should arrange to be there when they pull that wheel and figure out what's wrong. You might need to actually SEE this.

We have some good info on these old trucks here, but a freaking dealership with an experienced mechanic can still blow us out of the water. lol

Coolant temp on the 86? That one is for the dash. Cylinder head goes to the ECM.

Also, if you ever find the engine bucking at cruising speeds check your tps, they wear out on the i motors over time.

Found a better door panel than mine at the yard. Pulled mine off the driver door.
