@street_rulerr...... yea, I'm NOT totally up on FI, so thanks for this. Most FI changes happen in SW/computer controlled.

My take: If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

id start with checking the timing of the motor. i had similar issue with my 93

UPdate: I put stock airbox back and it went away. ig the ecu was having a hard time getting all that air in or something

Haha! These trucks didn't come with carbs. The throttle body is considered fuel injection.

Check the codes, though. That often points you in the right direction. There is a link on how to do that in my signature below.

So, it was "engineered" to have "X" amount of air. That got screwed up when a non-stock box/filter assy was installed.

It was probably not happy with the hot air coming in. Might have had a leak too so unmetered air.

Yea, Ol'school carb'd 2 wheelers need serious play with jetting when the airbox is messed with. Not at all surprised.
