![]() So i had to make a choice. I have been after this pathfinder since i saw it five and an half years ago, and now i own the old girl. It has been in a garage most of its life, and until yesterday, it hadn’t seen sunlight in five years. I personally know the previous owner. I have talked about this pathy before, and he finally decided to let me have it........500 bucks and it wasnt running. So after we spend 30 to 45 minutes beating the right rear brake drum with a sledgehammer, the brake finally released so i could load it on the trailer. I messed around with it last night. I changed all the relays and fuses, checked the fluids and stuck a new battery in it and crossed my fingers. Turned the key and nothing. So after verifying the solenoid was getting the 12v start signal, i came to the conclusion the starter was shot. I replaced the starter today, and got it to spin over. No fuel pressure. So i poured gas in it and gave it a shot of ether, and it fired to life and died. So as i was removing the fuel sending unit, the wire harness was in the way. As i moved it, the entire pigtail came up from the rear deck.....it was severed. I spliced it back together, turned the key and fuel started shooting out of the old filter. It had a bad fuel leak from the feed line to the fuel filter inlet, so i changed the line and put a new filter on it and turned the key. And it fired right up and man it is running like a sewing machine. The above video will have to do until i get some pictures. The next post will have a video of it running for the first time in five years. There is random lifter tapping that comes and goes. It needs a list of things before it is road worthy. The tires are dry rotted, needs a complete rebuild of the rear brakes, the AC box is full of pine needles, Gonna do the timing belt, cam and crank seals, oil change, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, new vacuum lines, belts, hoses etc. And i will find an oem pushbar for the front. ![]() Once the breather is back on the throttle body, the hissing sound will go away. The lifter tick that comes and goes will probably stop after an oil change. Last edited by jp2code; 01-24-2021 at 09:44 PM. |

Very nice. There can't be too many of those left. I'll bet the lifter tick and a bunch of other things will probably go away on their own after it's been driven for awhile.

I bought some brake parts from rockauto last night. They had the wheel cylinders for 96 cents. I got two wheel cylinders, the spring/pin rebuild kit and a gates AC belt. The shipping cost more than the parts.
