need your guys help. gonna do a timing chain replacement on the ka24de and i cant seem to find the proper procedure. ive been seeing people set the timing to tdc, second notch from the left and other people setting it on 20btdc or 4 notches to the right. Also i checked the FSM and the diagram shows rotor pointing to number 1 but at 20btdc. can any one clear this up? trying to get the truck running. dont want to be guessing. Thanks

OK, there's camshaft timing, and there's ignition/distributor timing, so I'm assuming you're talking about ignition timing.
I have a 1998 with that engine and its ignition timing is 20 degrees before TDC (+/- 2 degrees). My 2004 with 4-cylinder engine states 10 degrees before TDC (+/- 5 degrees). I suggest to download the 1999 official service manual, must do by separate chapters.
