Ended up being the parking brake spring! I had to manually get under the truck and push the parking brake arm back to release the tension on the parking brake.

Once I manually pushed the arm back from under the truck,,,,it held tension on the brake handle and pressed the switch in to turn off the "Brake" light.

Think I may just go ahead and replace the whole cable from the handle to the arm under the truck.

I think the cable (along with the spring being worn) is starting to seize inside of the plastic sleeve.

Researching no on how much of a PITA it is to change out the cable.

Anyone except Bama want to guess what reared it’s head at me today? Yep. Brake warning light won’t go off after using the parking brake. I have not used the parking brake in months, but I did last night. The cable retraction has gotten stiff (had to push the handle in to make the light go out) over the last year and a half and this thread makes perfect sense. Gonna check this out when I get home this evening.

Found the problem. Wasn’t the lever under the truck. That moved quite freely, but I lubed it anyway. The stupid roll pin that closes the ebrake switch fell out of the rod assembly. I taped the switch for now to keep the light off. But I will have to pull the entire handle down this weekend to put that stupid pin back where it belongs.

You might want to use a small bolt and a locking nut in place of the pin if possible. That way you'll never have to worry about it falling out again.

I used a zip tie to keep the switch closed. The gorilla tape lasted less than a day.
