So I bought a VG30e powered WD21 Pathfinder today. Blown head gasket but very workable. Probably won't start looking at it till Springtime though.

I'd love to see the reaction from people if my truck rolled up to an Autocross event... lol.

Do not bother with a jdm vg33. they are not any different from a usdm vg33. just pull a junkyard one for 200$.

They may not be different but they havnt been sitting in a yard for 10 years and 200k miles. I don't want to have to rebuild it before I use it since that's where I'm at now anyways. If I'm going to do that I might as well rebuild the one I got and not mess with it.

So now that I have a VG33E that has been adapted to run VG30E pulleys I am left with more questions that I thought I had figured out. These all pertain to figuring out which ecu I want to run on it, I have a few choices.

1) Run it as a 87-89 300ZX using a Z31 ecu and wiring.
2) Run it as an Xterra/Frontier with a D22/WD22 ecu and wiring.
3) Run it as a D21/WD21 with VG30E ecu.
4) Full standalone with MegaSquirt.

Each one of these options could work, it's a blank slate. But which one is the best option?

You lucky bastard. Im still waiting for my rust bucket to be picked up.

Did pick up my brackets today off an XTerra.

Im doing a VG33i. Should be sufficiently weird and throw off the local parts guys until they get used to me.

I did luck the fuck out on that one. It's not perfect, not even close. The guy who built it had pride in it but the guy who had it after him drove it hard and drunk. The oil is black and the wiring is sketchy as hell. It ran yesterday but I think it's not getting spark today for some reason. it cranks but no fire. It doesn't even try to start even with starting fluid. Disappointed but I was going to tear the thing down anyway, can't trust anything these days.

stand alones are a real pain in the ass unless you never change altitude, and have temperate weather.

personally id go with the frontier ECU unless some other one is a flash ECU or something of that nature.

does anyone make a simple safc or some really simple piggyback tuner you could use? id go with the ecu thats compatible with the piggyback
