Cool Interchange ability

I have a 95 d21 with the rl4r01a column shift. Its crapped out. I found a 98k tranny from a 87 d21 column l4n71b for
$175. Will they interchange or will i have issues and if so will they make the swap not feasible.

I thought they were interchangeable but I could be wrong.

Sorry for not being able to give a definite answer, but likely yes based off research I have done before.
IIRC the bolt pattern for the l4n71b is close if not identical to the KA24E.
Check to see if the transmission mounts look the same too.

I asked a similar question a while Back and here is what Foul Mouth replied with:
"If it bolted up to a Datsun L motor it will bolt up to a KA engine."

What about the tranny control module the 95 is electronically controlled and the 87 is not.

That's where it's going to get interesting, you are going to need to trick it into thinking it's still in a 95. Wiring, wiring, wiring. I haven't done this swap but will be willing to help. I have the FSMs for 87 and 95.

Not sure at all.
Only thing I know is the early ones are vacuum operated, the later is trans ECM controlled by a separate computer.
