I don't exactly understand what the difference should be. Will the clutch be stiffer? More consistent? More solid feel of engagement?

The damper puts a cushion effect into the hydraulic system. Without it you get better clutch feel and actuation.

Yes, I understand what the damper does but saying the feel is better means nothing to me. In what way does it feel better?

I'm planning on doing the mod ASAP and I'm just asking what to expect.

the transmission seems to be more sensitive to fast clutch movement now. mine will die in a heartbeat if i let off the clutch too fast from a stop. of course they will all do that, but it is less forgiving now that the damper is gone.

Better "feel" means the engagement/disengagement is transmitted through the pedal to your foot better than when the damper is in place. You "feel" the clutch when it begins to grab and it seems to grab sooner than with the damper in place. It makes it possible to work the clutch better and you know more about what is happening.

Imagine having a stick in your hand hanging it out the window while you drive down the road.

If you touch the stick to the pavement you will feel the road through the stick.

Now imagine you put a piece of rubber heater hose on the end of the stick and held the stick by the floppy rubber hose and touched the pavement.

You lose a lot of that "feel" that is transmitted through the hard stick.

Ok. Thanks! Sounds like I'm going to have to do it ASAP.
