Just pull the seat, four 12mm bolts, takes a minute or less to pull the seat, I use a 3/8" socket adapter in my drill.

And read the codes directly off the ECU, no problem.

I got that part. My problem is reading the codes. The check engine light sequence is what's giving me trouble. I may pull the seat again and video the lights

Just ignore the check engine light and use the ECU LED's

I thought long was first digit of the code. Is it telling me i have 2 codes?

Yep. Having same issue here. 95 nissan 4cyl, KA24E engine.

I crank the engine with the rotary knob fully counterclockwise. Let the engine completely warm up (which should put it into "closed loop"). with the engine running, I turn the ECU rotary knob full clockwise (into diags mode 3 if I;m reading the Chiltons properly).

Flashes are = long 1, then 2, then fast is 3 , fast 4, fast 5.

I see there's at least 2 other guys who have ran into the same issue. any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Have you tested the wiring with a volt meter? Tried a known good MAF? Reman/Aftermarket MAF's bad from the factory is not unheard of...

You may need to clear the codes in the ECU, Repeat the same procedure you did to get mode 3, except let it go to 4 flashes of the red and green than turn the screw back the other way, (or flip the switch if your ECU has a switch)
