Glad to see I'm not the only one cuz i'm about to loose my mind.
I'm on my second bracket (from junk yard). This is for a 89 HB with z24.
About one week ago it started squeaking.
Yesterday the alt belt broke and when I was about to replace it, I found the alt bracket broken too.
I replaced it and belt is still squeaking. Gonna look into the pulleys now.
Unless someone has other ideas???

^ Update.
After a month, the squeaky belt is back!
The top of the alt bracket snapped!
Right where the bolt goes thru!
WTH!
Any ideas any one.
All the pulleys look ok, no play.

In all the years of owning these trucks, not once have I had one of these break. No wonder I've been selling quite a few of these on eBay lately.

mine broke also,
I just removed it and drilled it out to 5/16 and used a grade 8 bolt and a washer, never broke again.
