Exclamation Alternator tension bracket breaking HELLPP??

So I had the original alternator bracket on the truck for years, then at the eend of the bracket where the bolt to keep the belt tight was broke.. now I have a new one and guess what... it cracked too:/ should I go to the dealership and get a belt from them with the new bracket to cure this problem or is anyone else having this problem??

My tensioner bolt part 11715A broke. When I change the belt, I use a pry bar on the alternator and tighten the 08126-8451E bolt.

It was broke when I bought my truck. I just thought it was the belt squealing. When I replace the belt I noticed the bracket split in two toasted the end. Bought a new one and havent had problems since...about a year ago now

Are you using the lock down bolt on the alternator.
One bolt adjusts the belt. This is the bolt that goes from left to right. Then the bolt that goes through the part that holds the tightener bolt. This small bolt goes into the top of the alt. as well(front to back direction).
Then you have the large pivot bolt on the bottom of the alt. All of these work together to keep the belt tight.

im thinking he is talking about the long skinny (left to right) bolt. i have had terrible problems with this bolt also. the bolt is just far to weak i think. the last change seemed to hold up....luck of the draw maybe?

mine is broken as well, had a loose belt and tried to tighten it but it just snapped, just used the two mounting bolts and a pry bar and it works fine, isnt that how they all used to be in the old days?
