as far as part numbers go, you should be able to call any dealer - missing the days of VG30e being around haha...
Oh I think you might be right... hmm.

I've ordered everything. I did not get a new oil pump or a new water pump at this time. My truck still has under 100k on it...I probably only really needed guides, but whatever.

Yes, these part numbers are the metal guides. I've ordered them and confirmed.

The slack guide in the picture is what I installed in my 97 and honestly, they're not worth a shit either. The original that I replaced when i got the truck was this one too and the plastic had broken off the metal. The new one that I installed went about 5000 miles before the plastic broke off it too. So I had to tear it apart and replace that guide again. It's been going good for a while now, but I really wish there was a better option. Are the aftermarket guides identical to the OEM guides?

One thing I found that I needed that I did not order was an oil pump gasket. You'll need this even if you do not replace the oil pump. 15006-D21004 from Courtesy Parts. $0.54!

I wish there was a better aftermarket alternative, but I don't think there is. Might be worth asking over on ka-t.org and let us know.

Try a Nissan oil filter and see if it improves. If not, I'd replace the chain.

Mine did that too. I'm running a Nissan filter now and do not have that issue, but I have not tried anything else since doing my chain, so can't say for sure that it fixed the issue for sure.
