Battery is 4 months old. It shouldn’t be the issue!

yes. but its not a washer. its actually like a little disc on some cars. this is mostly a muscle car thing where nothing fits. however it sounds like yours needs to go DEEPER. where a shim will make the engagement shallower. make sure there isnt a rogue shim in there already causing problems.
