There is a ton of information and whatnot out there but Im not finding the issue im having exactly, unless its the driveshaft dust shield but not sure, TBD at the moment...
What Ive done: 2" drop spindles lowered front end to match rear 4" angled blocks redrilled hangers spaced up carrier bearing My issue... I get a wild grinding noise when driving, it sounds like its coming from the rear but im having a hell of a time finding it. i took a quick peak under and saw its possibly the top of the diff where it recieves the prop shaft has a small lip that the prop may be griding on? I am assuming that my pinion is off but im not sure how to fix that unless i get more angle on my block? Any and all ideas are welcome. |

Check to make sure the driveshaft isn't being pushed into the transmission. This happens when lowering sometimes.

Look at the tailshaft cover on the transmission. See if it's dented or if there are any metal shavings. Only real way is to pull the shaft and look at the tailshaft. Keep in mind this is an idea as my cover was dented and made a grinding noise when spinning. I would probably exhaust all obvious problems before pulling the shaft.

My trans and rear main have been leaking for a while as it seems i can not see a damn thing besides lumpy dried oil on the tail shaft cover, I have only driven it around the block so i will drive it more this weekend and see if i can make the issue is easier or clearer to find under neath the truck. I hate the idea but i might jack the truck up by the rear axle and put it into gear to find it.
Ive read that some people have just drove it and it went away. seems a little much for me, id rarther just fix it. |

Update:
I actually think the noise was the carrier bearing and rubber getting settled because I drove it around and up to cruising speeds and I didn't hear the noise at all. I'm going to count this one as a win boys |
