After much sledge and torch Red finally gave up its stuck and fused torsion bar and control arms on the left side tonight. Ran out of time to do the right side. Next time I am out at the shop I promise. I have to drill out the lower control arm bushings which is as fun as it sounds, trust me! That's all the updates for now.

Use one of those small propane bottles. Worked wonders on mine removing those pesky bushings.

I thought about fire, I am just afraid of lighting the whole truck ablaze since it's oily in spots. Maybe if I can fab some kind of metal shield to deflect the flames away from the engine. We shall see.

New parts day! New torsion bar adjustment bolts, snap rings and hardware from the dealer.

54216-52G0A Bolt
43245-C040A Nut
08911-6421A Nut
54118-B500A Snap Ring

2 of each of those numbers.

I cleaned up and reused the conical washers on the torsion bolts, @$15 each I decided recycling was better on the pocket book.

Aahhhh... New York rust.
I am way too familiar with that crap.

If it wasn't for the damn summer blow torch weather in the south, I'd be here full time.
My D21 has ZERO rust on it.
I feel sorry for you.

Looks like your muffler escaped...

Yes, the muffler had to be relocated so I could remove the torsion bar. I plan on welding up a custom exhaust with a rear exit once I am done with everything else.
NY kills all vehicles unless you store them in the Winter. This is a CA truck too! I did drive it for one Winter and the PO used it as a work truck year round. I don't mind working on it though, it seems to take upgrades well.
