Default Opinions on cold weather jacket

Wanted to ask our members that live in cold climates opinions on jackets you have or like that keep you warm.

OF course down here in Florida we don't get real cold like up North but on occasion it get cold and I work outside. What I would like to find is a jacket that keeps you warm but isn't real bulky, I have to be able to move around and wearing multiple layers like I did this week is a pain.

The past few days with temps in the low 30's and wind chills in the 20's I was wearing my button up work shirt, a hooded insulated sweat shirt, the nice fleece liner for my my County jacket (best jacket I wear it all the time), and one day I had the outer part of my County jacket over all the rest, but at that point it's all so bulky it's hard to move.

Plus the jackets they give us must be designed for short people as they do not come down past my waist !

Thanks for opinions and feed back.

Pretty much any jacket will work. I have a carhartt knock-off I bought at costco a while ago. So far it's been pretty durable and the fabric is nice and heavy to keep the wind out. My last couple of jackets have come from the thrift store, although FL thrift stores might not have many to choose from.

I have a carhartt that's made for tall people. I'm 6' 1" and it's long enough to come past my waist.

I was looking at those earlier, I see Tractor Supply carries them and they just opened a brand new Tractor Supply store close by, may have to go check it out, would like to try on jackets before I purchase.

went to 2 Tractor supply stores last night, one had 1 jacket, not my size don't think it was the same jacket you have, the other store sold out of everything on Tuesday when it was cold. Going to keep looking into other options, I'm sure in a week or so it will start getting warm out anyway. Still want to have one for the next time.

A good set of thermals will make a hell of a difference.

I love the new thermals the Army issues, thin as a t-shirt warm as he'll. I have them in black (old) and tan(soon to be out of in entory). I'll be getting out (retiring) before I ever see the coyote brown.

This is my go to place for cold weather stuff at least when I lived in the frozen tundra of NW Ohio. Down hear in Florida I have no need for it and have long since sent my stuff to family members still trapped in the ice. LOL
