Default Additional fuel tank

Got this crazy idea to get one of these racing fuel cells and mount it where my spare tire used to go. I would have to have a fabricator create a container out of aluminum.

Has it been done? Seems I've read the existing tank is extremely sensitive to any sort of a mod and will throw a CEL. I've read where the hard body folks have just out right replaced the existing tank all together with a fuel cell while utilizing existing fuel pump, etc.

I've always wanted a Long Ranger tank sold in Aussie but getting one to the US is close to impossible.

Assuming you have a 2002 frontier like your profile says, I'm not sure if this will work for you. However, other people have taken a stock pathfinder tank, and placed it between the rear framerails of the pickup.
All you would have to do is wire fuel pumps to both tanks and put each pump on a variable switch like older ford/chevy trucks used to have

I would ad a pathfinder rear tank to where the spare tire goes. Then have a relay operated switch to pump gas from that tank to the primary tank. In which running a line from that tank into the return line to the primary tank.
My stable of Nissan trucks includes:
1987 Nissan King Cab(full frame off Restoration).
