Default 1996 Get-It-Running Log

Today, I saw this listed on one of the Facebook groups for $700:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/Long...69509906503159

I got there and this is what I saw:

It's basic. 5-speed. KA24e. HF35 axle.

Front fenders look to be replaced. Front bumper is messed up, and the front grill is black instead of chrome like the rest of the truck. The bench seat looks wore out (kind of sinks in like some springs are gone). The hood is in the bed of the truck.

Wheels look nice! Left-Rear has dryrot, but all the other tires look new.

After looking it over, the Mexican guy told me through a translator that he would take $600. I didn't even try to talk him down. I probably could have gotten it for $500, but he offered to load it up on a trailer and haul it to my house 30 miles away.

This build log will be about finding out why the engine doesn't crank, and getting it running.

I have not checked anything yet. I only just saw the listing on Facebook a few hours ago, and now the truck is now sitting outside in my driveway.

Very good score. Time for a notebook in your hand, a pen, and a complete assessment front to back.

Don't forget to take a good flashlight do your inspection UNDER it too. Take plenty of pictures through this whole process, and create a special folder for them in My Pictures on your computer.

I would do this and do a hands-on everything before dropping a penny on the truck. That way, you can establish a What's Important list and a What Can Wait list.

Good luck. If you need a FSM let me know. What's the mileage on this truck?

I'm just going to see about getting it running so that it can be a daily driver.

I don't know yet if I'll keep that daily driver as my own or resell it.

If it costs too much to turn her into my daily driver, I could part it out (bed, transmission, wheels, dash, frame - all good).

I'm just not sure how a basic little KA engine would cost too much to get it running.

Looking at the title here, the previous owner was listed as Warren Meadows. He bought it 02/16/2018, but the guy I bought it from and signed the title application is Ricardo Sanchez.

VIN: 1N6SD11S2TC373933

He signed it, but the title was never transferred.

You wouldn't of happened to fill out a bill of sale with Ricardo Sanchez did you?

You'll probably have to obtain a replacement title and have it transferred to you properly.

Texas has a title transfer form, which is a fancy bill of sale. I had him sign that.
