Default Wrap my fuseable link

Finally getting around to replacing my 95 D21 fuseable link, itís getting to be more often than not I need to play with it to start the truck.
I just ordered them from the dealer and will have them for the weekend. I asked the parts guy if he knew what they used to wrap the fuseable link with and he said he had no idea. He thought maybe it was something the previous owner did. Iíve read not to wrap it in electrical tape, I assume because it would trap moisture but what is it that mine is wrapped in? It pretty brittle and kinda like a cellophane. Any ideas? Is it original? Do I need to worry about wrapping it in anything?

I would plug em in and call it a day! if there is an issue it will be easier to see, I am thinking the po tried to fix em instead of replacing
