Aw! That bastard didn't show how to build it - no links or anything.

jp2code, can you get a good pic or 2 of your diagnostic connector? I see an article writeup in my future!

While it is off, I can get pictures. That is one thing I'm good at! Do you want pictures of the stock LEDs up front, the wiring harness connection on the back, the sides, or all of it? Until then, all I have are these ![]() ![]()

The pathfinder is easy to access ( at least on the 4 doors), that would be nice on the hardbody where the LED's and switch face the center of the truck.
No idea how to wire the switch but I guess for the LED's you could just solder wires to the pins in the ecu and extend them to where ever you wanted too. Would be curious to see the writeup if anyone is a member of either forum he listed. Anyone know why the diagnostic screw says "idle adjust" near it?

And some of us have the bench seat. That thing can be a bitch to get in and out by yourself, and you have to clean everything out of the inside of the truck to do it.
One guy posted that he was able to check the codes while his bench seat was in, so I tried. Maybe he keeps the cover OFF of his ECU, but I don't - and I couldn't find any way to get that cover off to see the LEDs without taking the seat out.

That cover sure grips the ECU real good !! I had some time getting it off when I was removing the rear carpet section, was ready to tear it off.

The website the video referred to is still up as is the project of relocating the ECU LED's, the guy says he tapped into the diagnostic connector,
link to site below, projects page, 5th project down, no idea if the diagnostic plug would be wired the same as the D-21 or WD21: http://v6-s12.com/

The pics on his Project Page leave a lot to be desired.

![]() I hope to build that setup for my truck and document it (with good pics). I'm thinking the early 86.5 trucks are missing the wire pair that will serve to trigger the diagnostic modes. I have 3 wiring diagrams and all 3 are different - so any reference pics of that diagnostic connector and wire colors that's under the left side of the dash will be appreciated.
