Or taking the switch apart and sanding the terminals clean. I have had pretty good luck, almost 3 years and the problem hasn't come back.

You know you drive a hardbody when you have become a quasi-expert at chasing bad grounds.

You know you drive a hardbody when...

You're switching out the whole clutch assembly and fight to get out that top-center tranny bolt...and can't reach it...

So you make a three-sided cut in your tunnel below the dashboard...bend up the metal...

Reach in there and get the bolt loose....

Then tap down the metal flat again and cover it with a bunch of duct tape and the carpet...

And you don't even care you did that to your truck.

(First Nissan I ever owned, I actually DID that once.)

Strangers come up to you with a " I used to have a hardbody" story and then they tell you the sad story of how it was stolen,wrecked, etc.

Getting a good arm workout because your truck has no power steering.

Takes like 5 min to change a fender, hood, etc

Being able to park in small parking spaces

You never drive when you go out with your friends because there's no space for more than 2 people

Random plastic parts that break into a million pieces if you remove them.


That feeling of knowing your truck will never break down

When you swap in a VG33 and get really good at removing and reinstalling the front diff.

You know you drive a hardbody when...

You can't figure out some minor electrical problem...so you just say the hell with it, bypass it, and rig your truck with another dashboard switch.

On the very morning I was packed up and ready to drive to Oregon to watch the eclipse last August, my tallights and license plate light mysteriously went out. Brake and turn signals worked fine. Headlights and markers, fine. I spent an hour trying to figure it out. But I was pressed for time (eight hour drive ahead) so I just cut into the pink and grey lighting wire in the back of the truck underneath...and ran a NEW hot lead to those lights to a switch I installed on the dashboard.

Now, to enable ALL the lights, you have to switch on the stalk, and then hit the dashboard switch. I always meant to fix it later...but again...that's when you know you drive a hardbody. "The heck with it...it works, right?"
