you don't need a dash kit, but you'll need a wiring harness. most of the time you can sweet-talk them into throwing the harness in for free. just pull your factory radio out, unscrew the brackets, wire the harness to your new deck, plug it in, put the brackets on your new deck, screw it down, and pop the dash back together. the hard part is the wiring harness... a decent crimper and a pack of butt connectors from the parts house and you're good to go. it's literally like a one beer job.

1 Beer translates into how many Screwdrivers?

Yup I noticed Crutchfield says they'll include the wiring harness, unless it's only on the models I've been looking at so far. Can't wait to go into the big cities and check out the competition. Maybe have someone else install it for me right then and there, and enjoy it on the road trip home. Hmm..

i had the shop install mine, but only because i haggled him down $50 and got him to throw it in so I could go across the street and eat tacos and have a margarita. he made me buy an antenna adapter and a dash kit, and i literally backed out of the install bay and pulled up front and returned them...that covered my lunch right there.

Here is a few thing to remember, when it comes to electronics of any kind you get what you pay for. as for temp issues not much to worrie about the equiptment in iraq works just fine and it is like 130 on average everyday durring the summer. electronic are built from the same components i.e. a 5K resistor in a 5milllion dollar CT Scaner is the same as a 5K resister in a $25 blender. so just spend a lil more and 9 out of 10 times you will be happy. for the brands to watch out for stick with brands you know i.e. Kenwood, JVC, Infinity

For the Double din I would recommend Kenwood, but for single din units and speakers ether Kenwood or Alpine. Thats based on the equipment we sell here at the shop.

all i've owned for decks have been Pioneers... well the Premier line anyways. alpines sound good as well but are harder to navigate and set up the audio options.

For mids i would suggest Focal. They are definately worth every penny. A little less expensive is Memphis.

I'm tech savvy. So no worries there.

I've never heard of Focal to be honest. Did the dealer location look up and closest spot is 60 miles away. Lol. I head out of town farther for groceries sometimes, might as well stop by the audio shop and hope they have some of those set up so I can hear them.
