I assume the plate that presses the clutch safety switch in isn't suppose to have a hole in it.

Nope, supposed to be a rubber bumper in it, the current ones from Nissan are Green, like this (pic from my former 94 Pathfinder, brake pedal):

Thanks for the tips. But I just clipped the wires and tied them together. Tired of fooling around with the starting issue. But seems it may have been the relay all along. Time will tell......

When my starter was giving me trouble I just made a jumper and plugged it into the clutch safety switch plug to test it, instead of cutting the wires, it turned out as you found not to be the problem.
I trouble shooted the relay, figured out what wire does what and tested the starter bypassing the relay and it turned out, as it usually does 90% (probably higher) of the time for people that the cause of starting problems are the starter. Reman starters. how ever new, SUCK !!! Buy a NEW starter and be done with the problem.

I have a 1986.5 D21 4X4 VG30. Brake lights came on and drained the battery. I found the actuator bumper in pieces on the floor! Is the part number for my 1986.5 brake pedal light switch actuator bumper 46584-5P010? Thanks |
