Mike, To clean my plasti dip on rims when they are stained I use tire cleaner.. It works really well, kinda makes sense too because it is rubber

what would happen if I paint over plastidip? Would it still peel off but maybe just a little bit harder to do so? Just wondering. Not too big on plastidip anyways.

I was told that if you paint over plasti dip, it ends up peeling right off.. That wasnt the case. As you peel off the dip, the paint comes off like dust. It is very hard to peel off. I ended up sanding it away. So yeah, dont do it haha

Did matte black on my wheels. Pretty tough stuff I'm happy with it.

if you lay down enough plastidip the spray paint (if you get some nice quality stuff) sticks really nice and when it's time to come off it'll still peel. then just pressure wash whatever little bits are left off.

I laid down about 3 nice layers of black and then used this http://www.plutoniumpaint.com/ and it lays down amazingly smooth and covers like a dream.
the results:
that paint job lasted over a year through rain snow and thousands of miles of driving. not a chip or a peel at all.

hey guys, thought I'd share something I learned today.. If your plasti dip layer is too thin, or you're looking to get it out of those hard to reach spots, use some goo gone. After it soaks for like a minute, you can literally rub it off with a towel. Makes it so much easier if your layers are too thin

Thanks I plastidipped my rims the a while back and taking off the plastidip was a pain.

I will use googone next time.

Just a tip, make sure to grab the CAN of Goo Gone (or the spray gel) -- Just spray is important as using the drippy spout is harder to get into small places, plus you waste more faster (at over $8 a can you want to preserve it until you've got the job done then use it to clean up any residual plastidip after its melted away.

There are 2 ways to use the Goo Gone, you can blast it, let it saturate the dip, then once it looks dry, try to rub back the dip, and it doesnt come in one piece, but it does roll and stick to itself.

You can also spray it, and then wipe while its still saturated, but because the goo gone is so volatile, as soon as you start to wipe the liquidy dissolved plast dip, you start getting these gross soggy rubber boogers in your rag your wiping with and then that is a new mess you have to clean after you remove the original dip, so first method for me worked best. (least messiest)

Spray, let sit, rub off, or if its in a super tiny wheel spot, you can literally blast it off w/ the spray can if u saturate it enough and then its basically gonna just come off w/ the pressure of the spray can hitting it.
