I thought the throwout only works when the clutch is being let out? The sound only happens when clutch fully out and car is already moving under load

huh....maybe not.

carrier bearing? i dunno now im shotgunning it.

if you were to start slowly in 2nd gear, would it do the same thing? i still think it could be a throw out bearing not fully backing off the PP face and spinning a little until a glob of grease works its way to the grouchy bearing.

You could also pull back the boot for the throw out fork and hit the bearing with some pb blaster or something. Then see if it quiets down. You don't want to get that stuff on the clutch if you can help it though.

Carrier bearing failure will often cause a bad vibration toward the rear of the truck. Sometimes it gets so bad, so quickly, that your drive shaft will bang around a bit.

My money says it ISN'T the carrier bearing. I had one go out on me in a Datsun. That is a problem that gets bad...really fast. Just sayin'.

yea, I'm thinking its the clutch fork. A clean and a bit of grease. I also don't think it was replaced with a brass one, I should have specified at the time.

The throwout bearing works anytime the clutch is depressed far enough to apply pressure on the fingers. If your clutch is out of alignment it could put pressure on the throwout all the time.

Does this truck sometimes pop out of gear when you have it in a lower gear, high revs, going downhill?

I think on Nissan, unlike some other rigs, this is a sign the clutch is getting old in general. Last time I did a clutch job was in February this year. My old 87 was doing that, and after I did the whole clutch job, (disk, plate, bearing, slave cylinder) that stopped happening. It quit popping out of gear.

LOL...then the engine crapped out for good two weeks later.
