This covers installing power mirrors on a non power mirror equipped hardbody, the mirrors I used were off of a 95 hardbody, the switch not sure of the year but it has to be from a square dash as it fit in my 93,
this is the wiring diagram I made for the mirror switch plug and where each wire connects too: ![]() I ran my power wire to the fuse box and used a fuse tap to get power from a fuse that was labeled "mirrors", make sure if you use a fuse tap to put the tap on the bottom of the fuse. When the key is on the top of the fuse is "hot" if there is a problem with the mirror wiring and the fuse tap is on the top of the fuse the fuse will not blow which may result in some burnt wiring. I bought some 16 gauge 3 conductor wire from Lowes, (16-3), the overall diameter of the wire was too thick to run through the tube that goes between the body and the door so I had to take the insulation off the wires to get the 3 wires through You may want to find some smaller diameter wire, I believe the stock mirror wiring is 16 gauge but the aftermarket wire I used has thicker insulation on each wire. The wire I bought used white, black and green wires inside the rubber insulation, you can wire between the mirror switch to each mirror using any color you wish this is what I did, (wire color below ( top row middle) is the wire I bought to extend from the switch to each mirror): ![]()

the ground I ran from the switch to a bolt that screws in under the fuse block into the dash.
When installing each mirror to the body the wire goes in first into the outer hole in the door, it does not go through the inner metal into the cab, the wire goes in the outer hole and than down into the door. My mirrors had the clips on the wire already and the holes are in the door where the clips go in too. Once the wire is ran from inside the body to the inside of the door all you need to do is connect each wire to the appropriate wire on the left and right mirrors. I used terminals that I could un plug in case I have to remove the mirrors in the future. I taped the terminals up and used small tie wraps to tie the 3 wires to the inner metal of the door so they would not be in the way of the window. Any questions I can help, Sorry did not take pictures of the whole install.

The locks I would use relays. Simple and easy as I never could figure out the door lock timer. The windows are easy, just get the diagram for the amplifier and wire accordingly. I put my amp on the drivers side behind the fuse panel. Maybe start a new thread and keep this one clean.

I've got a mirror control switch if anyone needs one. Has a short pigtail with it, too. PM me.

I found the mirror control switch on an 87 and it looks like it will fit my 93. Someone removed either the control unit or the rectangular block off plate on the 93 as there is nothing there now.
Assuming the mirrors on my 93 are not electric, what vehicles are good donors for the mirrors? How much of the 87 wiring harness should I grab? |

![]() Just get stuff from a later pickup. If you're lucky, your 93 _might_ have been prewired for most of this, including cruise control main switch wiring as a nice bonus. My '96 was prewired, and the mirror switch and cruise control connectors are tucked behind the instrument cluster on the left hand side. What you'll need for '96 and '97 (possibly '93-'95): Mirrors and fasteners Door harnesses Switch If you need any help with finding the connectors, lemme know. Cheers, Phil |

What are the two left over black wires on the mirror? I have everything hooked up and working, just wondering what those do. Are they heated if it has the two left or?

Yes, they are heated mirrors. You will need the defrost switch and amp from a Pathy.
