Default Older sunroof

I'm looking for a used 13-1/2" x 28-1/2" glass sunroof and/or aftermarket sunroof kit made by LeVan. It's the original "Skyport" model and quite a few 70's and 80's Datsuns and Nissans added them on their cars/trucks. The frame came in a 15" x 30" size and had "Skyport" written on the inside of the interior front of the frame. Please see pictures below. I might also be able to get the later model Skyport models (II thru X) to fit my existing roofline. Please see attachments below on my '74 Nova. I have been unable to find a used LeVan "Skyport" glass and/or frame kit on the Internet. I'm hoping there's one out there from you folks on this forum site.

Just curious: Why do you only want the Skyport brand and not the one the Hardbody trucks came with? I've never had either, so I'm just curious what the difference is to someone who has experience.

Great question-I have a LeVan Skyport (out of business) in the car now. It's an aftermarket sunroof put in (guess) in the 70's or 80's. I'd like to get a Skyport direct fit as a back-up so I don't have to re-cut the roof. A replacement sunroof that's too small will leak; one too big and I'll have to re-cut the roof. Also you have to be aware of the curvature of the glass/trim frame. There were many aftermarket sunroof vendors-a size 15"x30" sunroof kit from one mfg to another is not a direct fit. That's why I want to stick with the Skyport, even used. My current LeVan Skyport is in good shape but it's got to be 40 to 50 years old. I'm looking for used Skyport back-up glass (13-1/2" x 28-1/2") in case I break my glass. And it would be great if I could get any old gaskets/trim rings, etc too from an old Skyport kit. I've seen some older Datsuns and older Nissans with the Skyport in them; so I'm hoping someone has one laying around or in a car that's being parted out.

Looks like his Nova had one installed... aftermarket. I suspect they got sold, later when people decided that was "the thing". Probably got installed in lots of forein cars/trucks/ect... he's got feelers elsewhere.

Maybe he needs to contact Nemoy... "In Search Of..." (a 70-80's series, IIRC)

89'HBV6-LOL; I could use Mr Spocks help in finding the LeVan Skyport glass and/or trim kit. You are correct; it's an aftermarket installed long before I bought the car 6 years ago. My sunroof is still working but it's got to be 40-50 years old. So I'm looking for a used back-up piece of 13-1/2" X 28-1/2" SKYPORT glass; and gaskets/trim rings etc. Most of the pop-up sunroof mfg'ers are out of business (LeVan too). And a 15" x 30" sunroof kit (that's how they were sold) from one mfg to another is not the same size as far as roof openings. Plus the curvature of the glass is different. Yeah; lots of Datsuns and Nissans had the LeVan Skyports put in in the 70's and 80's. Either by dealers or by owners. The words "LeVan" and "Skyport" were painted into the interior front of the trim ring of the sunroof. I am on Ratsun.net too. If you can think of another good site; please let me know. I've been scouring the Internet with no luck. And I've been in quite a few salvage yards. If you know of any good salvage yards that might have one; let me know too. Thanks!

LOL... back @ ya! Yea, you gots your work cut out for ya. Just keep looking and feelers out... persistance pays and I'm proof. Many times, I'm looking (but not really) and "it" comes up and touches me... sometimes soft, sometimes it bites!

Just keep your eyes open... and be patient. This is all I can say. Has paid me back, many times over.

Hey, I wonder if you'd have better luck searching out the southern states... or the mid-west? I'd suspect the NE, with all their moisture, will be a total crapshoot. The dry SW is where I'd be looking... find yards with a web presence and ask.

Again, GL!
