Then you buy it back, fix it and drive on...
Once you've reported anything with any INS CO, it's written... I suspect there is not much you can do but buy it back. Let's see if anyone else has input... hang tight.

Honestly, do not file. There are plenty of good fenders in junkyards everywhere. I saw two good looking trucks at LKQ earlier today.

It is to late to not file.
All you have to do is ask the company how much they will charge for you to keep it. I knew a guy that drove a PU that had already been totalled 2x...rear-ended, both times. |

Yep. Let the insurance adjuster know that you want to buy it back. They will subtract the buyback amount from what you would have gotten and give you a check for the difference.

I really don't know how the insurance companies work in the US. I totaled my Hayabusa while riding here in Germany and my insurance company (USAA) paid it off. After that, they asked me how I wanted to keep the wrecked bike. I kept the bike and did a complete factory rebuild with the local Suzuki dealership.

Jimmy... you and I have an advantage over many other drivers. USAA is different than most other agencies. Rarely will they bicker with you, unlike others... and will usually fight for and work with you on issues.
I got rear ended by an uninsured kid in a VW bug some 8+ years ago... they wrote off the car went after him for the replacement value. I didn't have to do a thing! ![]() Just be aware of the advantage military members have in this regard... Unlike Gronk, "We are special". LOL (hope you saw the comercials) edit: After reading some more current reviews, seems USAA is heading in the GREEDY direction with rates going up and service doing down. YMMV

<soapbox> Sad that (what I call) the legalized GOVT mandated/supported ponzi scheme is so prevalent in our society. Think of all the $$$ you could have in savings... (just how I see it) So, in the late 80's I got my own USAA Ins Acct, then when I got my first dividend check... I think it was <$30... I was like "OK, I'll get another meal". $30 and you're still single, easy math. It was welcome... FF almost 40 years, we have policies on 3 autos, a house and... well, many more $ outbound... my dividend check was almost offensive this year. I think it was like $28!!! So, what's wrong with this picture??? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... ps: no claims in the last 20 years! NONE! </soapbox>

I have the USAA, Ive had it since the mid 80s. I have had two claims, one person I hit in a parking lot, another time when I got hit by an uninsured driver.
