I am looking for a new, used, truck.
I want it to be able to tow my camp-trailer....at least 2,500#, w/a 400# ATV in the bed, for 500miles. Will the V6 MT D21 do it? Or is it excessively overloaded? |

A V6 truck will do it fine. JP and I are known to pull a few pounds more than that.

Not to put down our trucks. But, you live in CO, so hills and mtn roads. IMO, I would get a truck with a V8 and 4.11s to tow the camper specifically.
Don't be that guy on Wolf Creek Pass going 15 mph.

Dunno, my truck even with the 3.0 kept up with traffic up and over the pass with 7,000lba of hay and does it every summer during hay season. I go from 4200ft to around 6,000 feet down to 3000feet and back.
2500lbs with the right trailer, tongue weight, etc isn't much.

That pass is a nasty one. I say that having driven it before in a minivan towing a ~2500lb camper. Slow is a bit of an understatement. The air is also quite a bit thinner up there. IIRC the pass itself is around 11,000 feet. Beautiful, though.
