It's so much easier to work on these trucks once all that AIC and EGR crap is out of the way.

Drove my KC to work yesterday and with the radio off, I noticed that there was no loose parts on the dash or anywhere inside of the cab. There was no unnecessary sounds. This 97 seems to be put together well.

I’ve just kept my D21 true to one of it’s purposes that I purchased it brand new..to be a daily driver, tow vehicle for my PWC’s, everything hauler in the bed and a people mover.
My D21 will turn 25 yrs. old this month, February 17, 2022. When I originally purchased The Mighty Nissan in 02/1997, I planned on keeping it for 25 yrs. After that time came, I would decide on keeping it or selling it. After all my truck and I have done and seen, I believe I will keep her. I’ve kept her maintained, remanufactured engine, complete inspection and seals replaced on the 5-speed transmission, MagnaFlow exhaust and catalytic converter with all new exhaust tubing. She has her bumps, scrapes and “war wounds” from over the years. But I still enjoy driving her for hauling or just for the pure pleasure of driving her. I was originally looking to purchase a V-6 D21. But the dealer said they weren’t being made at the time when I was looking to trade up from my NAP-Z powered ‘89 KC D21. So I purchased my current KA24E powered ride and it’s been history ever since. I still have the original window sticker! |

Washed it today. It was nasty. Everything was brown, even the silver looked brown. Had mud up the sides up to the roof. Wide offset tires throw crap everywhere even when you try not to.

![]() I sold mine recently (97 king cab XE) for five grand. Bought a nice 2009 Xterra from a buyer in Ellensburg, WA who was desperate for money for THREE grand. I like the X, but still miss the truck. And if you sell yours...you will too. One thing that makes the KA24E a great powerplant for these trucks is that you don't have to do any timing belt junk. And plenty of room under the hood to do maintenance. Damn...I am getting the depression again over selling the truck. (*laughs*) Just keep the truck and leave it to a family member who will swear to keep it restored and pass it on later. That way you will always know where it is and can visit it once in a while.
