I am new to this forum. Female. I just bought a 92 HB 5 speed 4x4. I am fixing it up on the inside. Slowly buying parts for it. The heater/AC vents are missing. I bought new ones, but i have no idea how to install them. Is there a video, diagram, instructions on how to install them?
Thank you ![]() |

I haven't needed to do them, but I'll guess the dash needs to come out. _Big_ job. A factory service manual (FSM) might help.
There's likely much more work (mechanical, etc.) needed first. I'd make some temporary registers out of cardboard, to delay the dash-job.

Welcome to the site.
On my 96, (round dash) the center ones come out with the center cover that goes around the radio/HVAC controls. the outside ones have little nipples on the side that will set in holes for up/down movement, these will be installed at a slight angle. Yours may be similar. A sturdy butter knife works well popping the nipples out of the holes to get them out. Here's a google of 92 nissan truck vents images, it may give you an idea how to get them out. https://www.google.com/search?source...ih=600&dpr=1.5

Interesting. At this age/brittleness, how likely are the bezels or vents likely to crack by prying them against each other?

I've done it will many older vents sitting it the AZ heat and hadn't any issues, on the flip side I've done it on vehicles here in WA and have work fine as well. I've had them break as well. Its a finesse touch kind of thing I think. You just can't go in like a Marine (search and destroy).

It will also help if the ambient temp is not <60F. Cold makes things brittle, especially plastics. Getting things to a reasonable temp will assist in getting this job done, without much damage...

The square dash trucks are the same. Remove the radio bezel then remove the three screws holding the center assembly in place. The side vents pop in from the front. I hope you got the complete replacement. If you try to remove the side vents, they will shatter in to a million pieces.
