Instrument light issue
Hi all,
I have a 2000 2WD double cab diesel turbo D22 Navara. The light bulb that illuminated the heater controls in the dash keeps blowing for no reason (obviously there is a reason...) I can fit a new bulb and it works then blows soon after. Is there a common issue that causes this? Just asking before I start ripping into it all. |

Sounds like there would be a short probably on the ground side. Just speculating based on the bulb blowing and not a fuse.

If over about 14.5 volts, then bad alternator/regulator. Had similar happen in an old Toyota, all bulbs burned out except headlights and stop lights: bad alternator.

+1 on checking the alternator. Also, use a multimeter to test the socket for the bulb itself to make sure it's getting the right voltage. If the alternator seems to be ok but the voltage at the bulb is doing weird things, you'll have to get the wiring diagram out and see what the possible points of failure are.

Even though absolutely everything else is working perfectly
That is the only bulb that blows. I’m picking there is an issue with that particular circuit. Chaffed wire etc.... I’ll take a look on days off after shift work and report back. |

Not necessarily decided, just thrashing out options.
I’ll report back once I’ve had a poke around. It’s only one bulb, would have thought a faulty alternator output would effect more than one bulb... Worth checking out though, never know.... |
