That is the whole reason why I would do the swap also.

I haven't had to search for a tranny but if someone could enlighten me of why the truck tranny's are more $$$ than a 240's as you all are stating, that would be nice to know.

If i had to guess, there are a billion d21's on the road, people 200k on them minimum. They don't cost that much so when they need a trans people don't want to spend half as much as the truck cost to replace it. They go to the junk yard and get one. That uses up all the supply.

It's kinda funny, the junk Dana 35 that comes in almost every Jeep made bring a bunch of money, 31 spline explorer 8.8's don't cost much at all. Everybody breaks the 35's so they get bought up, nobody ever breaks an 8.8 in an explorer.

Thread from the dead!
My auto took a dump, hate automatics, not putting another in.
Truck 5 speeds are way more expensive than car 5 speeds here.
Obviously the shifter hole needs beating and the driveshaft shortening. Do I need ti change tranny crossmembers? Ecus? Other then putting a truck or pathy pedal assembly in and clutch master and slave, I don't know what I need to change.

Gathering parts for this now, can anyone tell me the length the shaft needs to be? Back of 240sx tranny to front of diff. One piece.

Or how long is the one piece driveshaft that some of you had built? That would be the better way to go I'd think!
